Chimayo (Eastsound, WA)

Merry Christmas! Being that I was about in the middle of the pacific ocean last week up on Orcas Island, I had a gut feeling there was some great fish tacos around and that feeling turned out to be correct. We actually had to walk around and ask a few people where to go and they all sent us to a Mexican joint called Chimayo. Sure enough, they had their grilled fish tacos on the special board right when we walked in. And like I said, my gut feeling was correct, these things were on point! Tons of delicious grilled whitefish loaded into corn tortillas with shaved cabbage (which I’ve never had before and was awesome) and a chipolte crema that really turned these guys up. Super friendly staff as well, more than happy to let us sit down and eat even though they were closing in ten minutes. Solid price at $10.95. My most northern fish taco experience thus far was a great one!

Taste 4/5. Health 5/5. Price 4/5.

  1. Cool, I’m looking forward to trying Chimayo’s fish tacos next time I’m on the Island, but being a persnickety almost local (Bellingham, slightly northeast of Orcas, across the water), I’ve gotta point out that Orcas isn’t even that close to the Pacific Ocean. It’s in the Salish Sea, on the confluence of three or four Straits, north of the Strait of San Juan de Fuca, which does flow to the Pacific.

Love the name of your blog! Searching it to see where you’ve been in Seattle . . .
